Terms of Service
Last updated: April 27, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Votional ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Votional is a web application that helps users take sermon notes, study Scripture, and engage with devotional content. The Service includes free and paid subscription tiers.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet this age requirement. You must sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under it.
4. Subscriptions, Auto-Renewal, and Refunds
- Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Stripe.
- New paid subscriptions include a 7-day free trial.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or annually) at the then-current rate, charged to your saved payment method. You will be notified by email before any renewal price change.
- Cancellation: You may cancel at any time from your Subscription page or via the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; access continues until then.
- Refunds: We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at support@votional.com within 14 days of the charge and we will review the case in good faith.
- For California residents and residents of other jurisdictions with automatic-renewal laws (ARL), you may cancel by emailing support@votional.com or through the in-app cancellation flow without speaking to a representative.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of all notes, reflections, and content you create. We do not claim rights to your content. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content back to you through the Service, and to send portions of it to the third-party AI processors disclosed in our Privacy Policy for the sole purpose of generating the features you have requested.
6. AI Features and Theological Disclaimer
The Service uses third-party AI APIs (currently Google Gemini and Deepgram) to generate Deep Dive analysis, devotional content, Scripture Bites, and live transcription. AI-generated content is provided for personal reflection and study only. It is not a substitute for pastoral counsel, theological authority, or formal religious instruction, and we make no representation as to its theological accuracy. Always weigh AI-generated commentary against scripture, your faith tradition, and qualified spiritual guidance.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service
- Share your account credentials with others
- Submit content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or otherwise violates the rights of others
8. Account Deletion and Termination
You may permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from your Preferences page or the public Delete Account page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms.
9. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that AI-generated content will be error-free, theologically accurate, or appropriate for your particular faith tradition.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Votional and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, with the seat of arbitration in Salt Lake County, Utah. You waive any right to participate in a class action. Either party may bring small-claims actions in their local jurisdiction.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by email or in-app notice and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
